What do you want to monitor ? |
This is really the first question to ask. Firstly, consider the generic or
specific monitoring needs you may have. Sentry-go is a component-based
monitoring solution, meaning that you only purchase the monitoring
options you will use on your servers.
For more standard environments, consider a Quick Monitor solution. These provide the most likely
monitoring options you will want for theat particular environment.

Add the Enterprise Option
|
The Enterprise Option, as the name suggests, is an optional
component. It is not needed to run any monitor, nor do you need it if you simply
wish to log triggered alerts to a database.
However, its a great addition to your server monitoring solution if you want to record status & alerting
information & view details from all monitors within the environment from single
dedicated reports. With drill down options & quick links to other reports, the
Enterprise Option is an ideal tool for troubleshooting & spotting problem
trends, especially for larger organisations or where you have more than a
handful of monitored servers.

Sentry-go Plus!, Quick Monitors, or both ?

Quick Monitors, as individual monitoring components, or as a combination of the two ...

- If you're monitoring a standard software environment, or wish to use more
generic monitoring features, consider using a Quick Monitor. Quick Monitors come
pre-configured with monitoring components typcially required for given software
environments including SQL Server, Exchange, IIS Web & File & Print monitoring.

Monitors
- You can also purchase components, known as "Plus! components" individually.
These are ideal when creating a more tailored solution - the Sentry-go Plus! Quick Monitor, or when you wish to perform
targeted monitoring of a specific area.

- Alternatively you can combine the two. Choose the most appropriate Quick Monitor
that provides most of the monitoring requirements for the server, then add on or
more Plus! components to it to tailor it that little bit more.
Quick Monitor v6.x and Plus! Monitor components v6.x are fully compatible.
