In addition to monitoring & alerting, both Sentry-go Plus! and Sentry-go
Quick Monitors also allow you to
access monitored information, alerts & dynamic reports direct from your desktop's
web browser.
Accessing them is easy! Simply enter the
appropriate URL to connect to & display all reports generated by the monitor(s)
installed on the server using the fully integrated web server.
|

|
No additional web server software or external configuration is required to access these web reporting features.
|
To view Sentry-go web reports, we recommend the following web browser
applications ... applications ...
-
Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.x or above
-
Netscape Navigator v6.x or above
-
Mozilla Firefox
The integrated web server is dedicated purely to generating the reports provided
by the underlying monitor. As such, custom scripts & other vulnerabilities
should not affect it in the same way a standard web server would be. However,
for additional protection, the following security features are also provided ...
-
Web reports can be enabled or disabled independently of the Monitor itself (the
monitor must be running in order to connect to & display web reports). Web
reports can be disabled while the monitor continues to function & send alerts etc.
-
Reports can be password protected, requiring the user to logon
before the report is available.
-
Access can be limited to specific IP addresses or ranges of IP addresses.

System Health
Indicator (Sentry-go Plus!)
|
|
|
|
Most web reports contain a indicator, known as the System Health indicator.
Using cached values, Sentry-go Plus! calculates the overall
performance of all checks as they are run. The percentage shown here is the
percentage of checks that, when last ran, were successful. |
 |
It provides “at a glance” confirmation on the status of all checks being
performed and whether not this overall performance (the trend) is improving or
worsening.

When installed, the monitor will automatically create a home page, allowing you to
easily access all available reports. Pages are created dynamically, depending on
the monitor type of, for Sentry-go Plus! the monitoring components installed.

From here, you can access all primary reports available with the monitor.
The following reports come as standard with Sentry-go Plus! and/or Sentry-go Quick Monitors.
Other reports are dependent on the monitor type or components installed.
When Sentry-go triggers an alert, action is either taken automatically
and/or one or more Administrators are notified. However, if you miss an alert or
network message or are not being notified about a specific alert level, you may
not see one or more alerts generated by Sentry-go. The Recent Errors Report gives you access to the most recent errors that have
been detected and the alerts triggered. It also provides an ideal way of
checking a group of problems or to see if a chain of events is building up.

This report gives details of all currently monitored items and their current
or last known status. It is an ideal way of checking to see whether a previous
problem has been resolved as well as the latest known values in real or near
real-time. By connecting directly to the monitoring engine, you can easily see the current
status of the server, software & all monitored values.

|
Current Activity
(Sentry-go Plus!)
|
The Current Activity report connects directly to the monitoring & alerting
engines to provide a real-time view of the work being performed by the monitor.
From here you can see checks as they occur and their outcome etc.

|
System Summary (Sentry-go Plus!)
|
This report gives summary information for the Sentry-go Plus! system, including
paths, statistics, cached values etc. It is an ideal way to see, at a glance,
how the monitor is set up & performing.

Depending on the Quick Monitor or Sentry-go Plus! monitoring components
installed, other reports may also be available. For more information, please see
the appropriate Quick Monitor or monitoring component detail page.
