Today, Windows Servers such as Windows 2003, 2008 & 2012 provide the runtime
environment for many systems worldwide. Some may house specific environments
such as SQL Server, web services & Exchange, whilst others provide security &
authentication through Active Directory, services such as file & print or
application-related services running custom services & storage.
Whichever combination you use, the chances are you'll realise the importance of
monitoring the status, both of the hardware and software running on them.
Whether its an error written to an Event Log, the inability to access a database
or send an e-mail, or the the fact that important files have been accessed, it's important to
learn of these early in order to avoid longer term issues and hopefully be
able to resolve them long before they become more problematic.
Doing this manually is both time consuming, expensive in terms of man power and
impractical - especially in today's 24 x 7 world. In effect, its near impossible -
relying instead on users phoning the helpdesk or customers reporting faults
themselves, both of which are obviously far from ideal.
A far better solution is to automate these processes and with Sentry-go
monitors, that's exactly what you can do ...
- Ensure your servers & key systems are up & running
- Ensure they’re working within expected limits
- Ensure your users or customers aren’t receiving errors without waiting for
them to tell you
- Automatically respond ASAP to known faults
Above all, you can get on with your own job, safe in the knowledge you’ll be
informed & have access to the right information, should issues arise ...
