The Step 4 dialog box allows
you to enable or disable and configure the Quick Monitor's Web Reporting
features ...
Embedded
Web Server
The Sentry-go Quick Server Monitors
contain an embedded Web Server - a component that allows a Web browser
such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Navigator to
connect directly to the server and display reports based on the
monitored data. For example, a list of recent alerts triggered &
current performance information. It also indirectly provides support for
the Quick Monitor Console.
To enable HTML Reporting from this
monitor, the Web Server facility should be enabled.
Enable
Web Reports from this Quick Monitor |
To enable
web reporting of the monitored information, select this option
which allows the web server to function.
If unchecked, no web reports will be accessible from the Quick
Monitor. You can enable/disable this facility later if you wish,
through the Configuration Utility.
If Quick Monitor Console
support is requested (below), the web server must run. However, in
this case, if this option is disabled, access from web clients
will be disallowed.
|
Allow
this monitor to send alerts to & be controlled by Quick
Monitor Consoles |
Check this
option to allows this Quick Monitor to interact with any Quick
Monitor Consoles running within the environment.
If enabled, the web server will
also be enabled; however, if the above option is unchecked, the
web server will only provide support for console messages, not
HTTP requests from browsers.
If disabled, a Quick Monitor
Console will be prevented from accessing this monitor/server and
will not receive alerts from it. Other alerting features will run
regardless of this setting.
|
Enable
Remote Command Execution through the Web Server |
Select this
option if you wish to be able to logon and execute remote commands
directly via the Virtual Command Session web page on your desktop.
This is useful for servers where no remote control software is
available or where a slow network connection may prevent the use
of such solutions.
Although the Virtual Session is secure - i.e. it requires a
Windows logon & password before commands can be run, it is
recommended that this option remain unchecked where maximum server
security is required
For security, this option can only be changed after installation
by editing the Windows Registry on the server.
|
To view an HTML report, you simply connect to
the Web server from your desktop browser and access the appropriate page.
This page can either be the report's own page or the Quick Monitor home page
- which allows access to all other pages available on the local
machine.
-
To access the home page for a server
listening on the default port 80, the URL would be ...
http://<Server Name>
-
To access the home page for a server
listening on a non-default port (e.g. 84), the URL would be ...
http://<Server Name>:<Port No>
http://<Server Name>:84
-
Alternatively, you can use
the Sentry-go Web Launcher to launch your browser on the appropriate
home page.
Date Format The Sentry-go Quick Monitor
can display dates in any of the formats listed. The default will be
selected based on your current Windows settings but you can override
this by selecting your preferred format.
Press continue to proceed to the
next step.
