Q. Do I need to purchase client tools separately ?
No, client tools are included with the product download at no extra cost.
Q. Whats the difference between the Easy Access Utility & the Client Console ?
You can actually use either, or both, depending on how you wish to
interact with the monitor. However, typically the Easy Access Utility is used
with Quick Monitors, whereas the Client Console is used for Sentry-go Plus!
monitors.
The Easy Access Utility ...
- Is an easy to use interface for Quick Monitors.
- Can be installed on servers & desktops, regardless of whether the monitor
itself is installed.
- Can access a Quick Monitor locally or remotely.
- Provides access to all primary features including web reports & configuration
information.
- Allows you to export/import settings between monitors.
- Provides "advanced" options, by interfacing directly with the Client Console.
The Client Console ...
- Is an advanced interface for all Sentry-go monitors.
- Can be installed on servers & desktops, regardless of whether the monitor
itself is installed.
- Can access any registered monitor locally or remotely.
- Provides real-time alerting information.
- Provides acess to real-time run-time information.
- Provides full licence management for Sentry-go monitors.
- Provides access to all primary features including web reports & configuration
information.
- Allows settings to be synchronized to multiple monitors at a time.
Q. How do I download the client tools ?
Client tools come as part of each downloadable Sentry-go monitoring
package. You do not have to download them separately. To install client tools
only, run the Setup Wizard and select the appropriate option. Q.
How many copies of client tools can I run in my organisation ?
You can run as many as you like. For example,
on all PCs in your support area or helpdesk.
Q. I've installed my Sentry-go monitors. How can I access them through
the Easy Access Utility ?
Simply run the utility and enter the machine name & port number when prompted. You will then
be connected to the monitor, either locally or remotely.
Q. I've installed my Sentry-go monitors. How do I see them in the
Console ?
Once installed, simply register the monitor with each Client Console. Once
registered, their information will be saved locally and they can be viewed,
accessed and optionally conifgured as required.

Q. Can I see all alerts generated by Sentry-go ?
Yes, as long as the monitor is defined to the Client Console and running, you can view
alerts generated by it in real-time.
Q. Can I limit the output on the Console's alert display ?
Yes, you can filter on server or keywords/phrases within the message text.
Q. Do I need special permissions to run the
Easy Access Utility or Client Console ?
It is recommended that you run these tools from a user that has local
administrative privileges.
Q. Can I control Sentry-go monitors through the Client
Tools ?
Yes, you can start/stop the monitoring service lcoally or remotely through both
of these utilities, or using Windows Services.
Q. Can I configure Sentry-go monitors
from the client tools ?
Yes, simply connect to, or select the monitor and choose
the "Configure" option.
Q. Can I copy settings from one monitor to another ?
Yes, you can use the Client Console to synchronize settings from one monitor to
one or more others. Alternatively you can export some or all monitoring/alerting
settings to a file and re-import them from there using the Quick Monitor
Easy Access Utility. Q. Do I
need to enable the integrated web server in order to support the Console ?
Yes, the web server must be running on the target server. However, you can
disable web reporting independently of this functionality.
Q. Can I prevent other Console users configuring the monitor ?
Yes, you can password-protect the configuration function so that others will be
unable to access these options.
Q. I would like to make the same configuration change to a number of
installed monitors. Can I do this ?
Yes, you can use the Client Console to synchronize settings from one monitor to
one or more others.
Q. Do I need to enable the integrated web server in order to support the
Console ?
The monitor's integrated web server must be running in order to support the Console.
However, you can independently disable the individual Console and/or Web reporting
capabilities if
required.
Q. Can I restrict access to a monitor from the Console or web reports ?
Yes, you can limit access to one or more IP addresses, or range of IP
addresses.
