Verifying the VAT Registration Number

If a VAT registration number is entered, the system will automatically attempt to verify it as part of the purchasing process. If an error is reported, indicating a problem with the number entered ...

  • Check the number entered against the format provided above.
  • Check the actual number to ensure it is correct for your company. You can check the validity of your VAT Registration No. using the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) web site at http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vieshome.do.
  • If you believe the number to be correct, yet you continue to be shown an error, it is possible that a technical problem or network error prevents the validation process from completing successfully.

In this case, remove the number so that the field is blank to continue without validation. However, you will need to claim the VAT back manually following a successful purchase.
